For now, let’s first look at what exactly a splash page is…

A splash page is a company’s introduction to their website. It’s not a landing page, but rather a large window that is used to promote a service or product, announce a promotion, or deliver necessary information, before a user is able to enter the site and view the rest of the site’s pages. A typical splash page will usually be displayed in its entirety above the fold; that is, the area in a visitor’s browser that is viewable without having to scroll down.

SecondSplash.com uses a simple 3 step system to help members create splash (and capture – more on this later) pages.

  1. Members choose a background image from over 60 categories, all hosted by SecondSplash.com on their content delivery network. Pro members have the ability to upload their own background images to the network or import it from a web address (URL)
  2. Edit a text placeholder with a message you want your splash page to convey, move it to where you want it displayed on the background image and specify the color you want it in.
  3. Give your splash page a short descriptive name, and where visitors must go when they click on it and publish.

Once published, the member receives a splash page link that they can enter into traffic exchanges and anywhere else they want to promote it. Once such a splash page link is viewed, we get to see where the name ‘Second Splash’ comes in… (Viral Marketing technology).

This is rather imaginative. Rather than just displaying the splash page you created, 2 splash pages are displayed next to each other, or under each other when viewed on a smaller device such as a mobile phone. The splash page belonging to the link owner will be displayed on the right-hand side (top on smaller screens, android or iOS 14), and another splash page will be displayed on the left (bottom on smaller screens). The splash page on the left/bottom will be a random splashpage that belongs to the person who referred the owner of the splash page link. However, only 50% of the time will the left/top splash page belong to the sponsor. The other 50% of time when a splash page link is followed, the left/top splash page will belong to a random pro member. (more details on pro features later)

Readers who are sharp will quickly notice this is a fresh way of getting a lot of traffic without effort by either referring a lot of members to their downline or subscribing to the pro membership.

Google Search Algorithm Update October 2022

What the heck happened with my Search Rankings? What were the Google Search Algorithm Updates in October 2022? Some feel devastated!

October Updates Report: Search rankings may have taken a deep dive after Google Search Algorithm Update October 2022.

The first was on 21 October, 2022. It was to decrease rankings or de-index sites judged to be offering spam content to their Web visitors.

The second appeared to hit sites on 22 October, 2022. We were hit. Data in the Google Search Console shows a dramatic loss of position and impressions. This is most probably the user usefulness search algorithm update. The statistical correlate would be time spent on each Web page and item of content.

Don’t panic yet. Often the Google engineers ‘tweak it back’ a little. This is because it goes too far into overkill. Nice to know?

What Can I Do About Google Search Algorithm Updates?

Not much at first. Read the major SEO watch websites and newsletters. Get reading their Twitter feeds. Here’s a list of how you can monitor things. Keep yourself up to date. Test and learn. Every day. Listen:

  • Create Highest-Quality Content Imaginable. Write 1,200 to 5,000 words per blog post. Include many images and infographics with full explanations in the ALT (alternative) Text Tag. Helps with non-visual readers. Link deep into your own content. Up to 100 links.

How to Get High Ranking on Google Search

Keyword Research

The first step is to do your keyword research. You’ll want a focus keyword / keyphrase that is not too popular. A search number of about 20,000 to 50,000 per month is good. With not too many competitors. Look for the long tail combinations, using modifiers, like: ‘best,’ ‘best price on …’ ‘discount on…’ or ‘how to,’ or a local town or city name included in the key phrase: ‘Plumber in Las Vegas 24 hour emergency service,’ for example. Think clearly about what search terms people are actually using to find the product or service that you offer.

Improve Web Page Downloading Speed

A page speed of less than 0.7 seconds is required these days. Searchers will click away if the first fold of the page doesn’t reveal what they’re looking for. They won’t wait for a slow download. Instant gratification is the name of the game now.

User Experience (UX)

Elapsed time on your Web page is a good indicator of user experience. Google Analytics will tell you how long the average viewing time was, on a page basis. You want good stickability, and a video in the first fold of the page can help with this timing factor.

High Quality Backlinks

Allow backlinks to be placed naturally, pointing to your page of Web content. Don’t over solicit these links and don’t purchase them. Google analyzes all your incoming links and they must be clean and ‘from a good neighbourhood.’ Writing high quality guest posts on reputable blogs and sites is a good method.

High Quality, Useful Content

Content is still King. Optimize it for your main keywords. Use videos and images where the titles and filenames reflect the specific topic that your content is written about. Remember to put ‘relevance’ first. Just as Google does!

Use Of Headings

Use the ‘H1’ heading only once, at the top of the page, then drill down into sub-heads as I have done, breaking the subject up into neat sections. The ‘H3’ is great for this. ‘H4’ is in all-caps, then ‘H5’ is useful for the minor sub-sections.

Length Of Content

Write as much as you can. While there is no optimal word count number for the ‘ideal’ Web page, writing 1,000 words to 1,500 words or more is good practice. Google wants to see more text than html or javascript code. It can spider and understand the text better. Too much coding is suspect, because you could be including or redirecting, or anything that Google cannot read or see.

Optimize Your Images

Fast loading images are the main part of a fast-loading Web page. Optimize your images in .jpg or .gif format, rather than .png. The image file sizes need to be under 100 KB. Think of what your Web surfer or searcher is seeing, and how fast it is being delivered to them in the browser.
